Fuel Economy - What do you get out of a tank? (3rd gens only)

Okey Dokey
So what are some basic things I can do to improve economy? Its getting a fluid flush and a cat back exhaust soon anything on top of that? Just dissapointed cause my old 2.6 TR Auto got the same 400km per tank and I thought getting a Manual 3.0ltr would improve upon that.

Vortex muffler some 2.5 inch piping. I'm actually surprised more people don't have one! They made here but more popular overseas!

I don't know how you guys get such bad economy figures. I've got the heaviest car here
and around town and suburbs I get 500km/tank (64ltr tank). My car has a kerb mass of
1680kg plus tow bar = 1700kg.

i sometimes struggle to get 300km but thats cos my car spends alot of time just sitting idling and driving around at 20km/h

I get 10.6L/100 on my vanilla '05 Verada AWD (avg speed of around 66km/h). My route to work is usually on 100km/h country roads and highways. No inner city stuff.

OT - Whats up with Verada AWD badges Vlad? I have 'Verada' on back left and 'GTVI' on back right with only 'AWD' on rear passenger doors. I haven't seen any other Verada like that. They all seem to have the 'AWD' badge on the back.

Do you have the series II badge as well? Mine is done like the Magna VRX AWDs with the
AWD/quadtech badge on the left and the VRX/Series II badge on the right.

That would have to be a whole lot of idling! Don't they use around 2.8L per hour idling? Hmmm 20km/hr efficiency depends on what gear your in and brake use etc...

Driving at low speeds and extremely high speeds are both bad for fuel economy. I've
posted a webpage in the what to mod to improve fuel economy thread which contains a
graph which clearly state that fact. I've attached the graph so people don't have to
search for it.

Travelling at 15mph==24kph is worse than travelling at 75mph==120kph.

I knew there was the case, just didn't realise it was that much! Interesting to see the peaks around 35 and 55 with a dip in the middle... Weren't the basic speed limits in the US 35 and 55? Would that signify ECU tuning with only a couple of 'stations'. I have heard its the same here, that EFI cars (Australian at least) have ECU stations at like 55-65, 75-85, 105-115, etc. but wasn't sure whether it was true or not!

i basically use my car as a courier van my average speed is usually below 20km/h despite the fact the engine is actually running for 6-7 hours a day. Rarely gets into 4th gear, tend to brake pretty hard, lots of inner city traffic driving when i actually am moving, lots of accelerate, brake, accelerate, brake type driving.. Give you an idea as to why my economy is so crappo?
